) Essential Job Functions:

Performs as Site SSHO responsible for environmental and safety and health programs and policy implementation at Project location.
Provides a broad range of technical expertise for Safety and Environmental Programs.
Responsible for the complex technical work in a wide range of related disciplines to achieve compliance with federal, state, local, and customer ES&H regulatory requirements.
Monitors administer, evaluates, and coordinates company ES&H programs to provide a safe work environment for all personnel.
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions, eliminates hazards, and protects personnel by guarding, revising work procedures, and/or requiring the use of protective equipment.
Provides safety compliance and safe work practices training as needed/required.
Investigates, prepares, and forwards all reports on injuries, near misses,s and vehicle incidents.
Participates in and capture Safety Leading Indicators; provides monthly performance reports to HQ ES&H.

Provides technical expertise, management, and oversight of the Safety and Environmental programs, and processes and strategies at the Project level.

Designated SSHO (Site Safety & Health Officer) for the project/location.
Performs all SSHO duties as identified within the Army Corps 385-1-1 Safety and Health Manual.

Interprets and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Department of Defense standards and regulations regarding environmental concerns and employee safety.

Coordinates and communicates with Safety and Environmental government representatives as necessary, coordinating official responses as necessary with project management and environmental manager.

Resolves compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from within the company, customers, and government regulatory agencies.

Presents safety and environmental training programs to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental standards and injury prevention.

Performs work-site safety analysis, hazard prevention and control analysis, comprehensive safety reviews, safety, and environmental compliance inspections, and injury prevention analysis.

Conducts risk analysis to determine the severity of safety and environmental issues and/or discrepancies and defines and supports remedial courses of action.

Conducts incident investigations to determine causes, prepares corresponding reports, provides management with recommendations to prevent a recurrence and manages to closure.

Compiles safety and environmental statistics; develops metrics to determine compliance; and prepares analysis and reports for action or information by management.

Conducts site assessments; assist in closure of deficiencies and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Inspect subcontractor operations and conduct required ES&H training as needed.

Promote a workplace culture where safety is a top priority & value.

The ES&H Manager, or their approved designees, must be present during the business hours of 0600-1800.
After normal business hours or during weekends, ES&H Manager or their approved designees shall be physically present within two (2) hours of notification of an incident requiring emergency response, if and when an emergency situation occurs and shall be available for contact by telephone 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (24/7), including holidays.

Accomplishes results through lower-level subordinate supervisors or experienced exempt employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
Becomes actively involved in daily operations when required to meet schedules or resolve complex problems.
Education &
Experience:

Assoicatess degree in related environmental engineering, environmental compliance, and/or safety & health field, to include:
Public Health, Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Sciences, Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.

Possess professional credential in the area of expertise (Certified Health Physicist, Professional Engineer, or approved equivalent).

Five (5) years of experience in creating, implementing, auditing, and managing occupational safety & health, environmental compliance, and fire protection programs.

Five (5) years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing the Contractors safety program on contracts of similar size and complexity.

Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health construction/general industry regulations and consensus standards and Environmental Compliance.
Licenses & Certifications:

OSHA 30hr training completed within the past 5 years and have maintained competency through having taken 8 hours of Safety & Health-related training each year.

Desired - BCSP, ASSE, and NSC certification(s); trained in TapRooT Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigation; ISO 18001/14001 Lead Auditor certification.
Knowledge & Skills:

Fully knowledgeable of all safety and environmental requirements associated with the project.

Knowledge of HM and HW management, recycling, solid waste disposal, stormwater BMPs, general housekeeping procedures, fueling procedures, spill prevention and response, and natural resources preservation.

Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication.

Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Effective analytical and administrative skills.

Speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can read and understand printed regulations, detailed written orders, operating procedures, training instructions, and materials.

Knowledge of S&H regulations, standards, and industry practices.

Contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.

Considered an expert in the field at the project/location.

Demonstrated strong organization skills, flexibility, and ability to work in a dynamic, multi-tasked environment, using sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision making.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Must be physically able to:
climb ladders/stairs, wear all types of PPE (ie respirators, protective clothing, boots, gloves, glasses, etc.
), and work in austere environments.

Requires.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
