We are currently searching for an experienced Junior Software Developer to support NIH. This is a full-time position located at a satellite office of NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.
Position Requirements
Previous experience in Java/J2EE Development Exposure or experience using SQL preferred Knowledge of data modeling and manipulation Conceptual knowledge and understanding of Software Development Life Cycle Familiarity with Object-oriented scripting languages such as Java Exposure to or knowledge of Development tools such as Eclipse, SVN, etc. Technical skills in: Java, MVC, Javascript, AJAX, jQuery, Swing, AWT, Spring and/or Hibernate are desired Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment BS or higher in Computer Science or related filed At least 2 years of experience in a software development field
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project scope and schedules Utilize experience and skills in Java and/or JavaScript-based AJAX frameworks and related plugins, such as jQuery, Swing, AWT,etc. and various frameworks such as Spring and/or Hibernate Database design using SQL skills and experience Utilize knowledge of SDLC including skills in frameworks such as Scrum/Agile, environments such as Eclipse, and usage of tools such as Maven, SVN, CVS, or JIRA Employ problem-solving and multi-tasking skills to achieve project objectives within a team environment
Highly Desired
Comfortable in a Unix/Linux environment Familiarity/experience with database design using SQL, NoSQL, and/or Mongo DB is a huge plus Working knowledge of Perl scripting Exposure and/or experience in GUI development or design is a plus Familiarity with Web Services (REST, SOAP) A team player who is open to learning/exploring new skills
