Vice President of Business Development and Commercial Strategy Position Overview:
The Vice President of Business Development and Commercial Strategy plays a critical role in driving the growth and expansion of the company through strategic business development initiatives and the formulation of effective commercial strategies.
This role entails leading a dedicated team, managing budgets, evaluating opportunities, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with senior management to achieve organizational goals.
The VP of BD-CS is responsible for guiding the company's business development efforts, optimizing revenue streams, and contributing to the long-term success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
1.
Team Leadership and Performance Optimization:
o Lead, mentor, and manage the Business Development and Commercial Strategy team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
o Allocate tasks and projects among team members, aligning individual strengths with project requirements.
o Implement effective performance evaluation processes and provide regular feedback to team members.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:
o Prepare, submit, and execute the annual budget for the Business Development and Commercial Strategy department.
o Collaborate with finance and senior management to ensure budget alignment with overall company objectives.
3.
Policy Development and Compliance:
o Support the development and revision of company policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines and industry best practices.
o Uphold a strong compliance framework within the department and across business development initiatives.
4.
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
o Collaborate with senior management to achieve operational and financial performance targets as outlined in the business plan.
o Evaluate and recommend non-hydro business opportunities within renewable technologies and real estate, contributing to diversification strategies.
5.
Growth Strategy Execution:
o Update and implement the company's growth strategy, ensuring alignment with overarching organizational objectives.
o Drive the execution of growth plans, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed to meet goals.
6.
Acquisition and Contract Management:
o Evaluate potential acquisition targets, both within and beyond FERC-related sectors, and present recommendations to senior management.
o Oversee the presentation of acquisition proposals and participate in the approval process.
o Manage energy-related contract pursuits, recommendations, and implementations to optimize revenue streams.

Asset Performance Analysis:
o Develop and oversee analytical processes to evaluate asset performance, providing insights and recommendations to the Financial and other relevant teams.
8.
Employee Development and Advancement:
o Mentor, supervise, and evaluate team members' performance, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
o Support employee advancement plans and recommend compensation adjustments as warranted.
9.
Career Advancement and Coordination:
o Encourage and support career advancement plans for department employees, fostering professional growth and development.
o Coordinate closely with related programs, such as optimization initiatives, to ensure cohesive strategies.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred).
o Proven experience in strategic business development, commercial strategy, and team leadership.
o In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, real estate, and contract management.
o Strong financial acumen and budgeting expertise.
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
o Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
o Demonstrated ability to drive results and meet or exceed growth targets.
