Director, Division of Extramural Science ProgramsNational Institutes of HealthDepartment of Health and Human ServicesThe National Eye Institute's Director, Division of Extramural Science Programs (DESP) serves the larger NEI extramural vision research community and the NEI through the management of research project grants, cooperative agreements, training grants, and small business awards.
The DESP Director provides executive-level programmatic leadership and administrative oversight in implementing the scientific priorities of the Institute, institute-wide policies and procedures, and resource allocation for extramural funds, and leads a staff of approximately 20 Program Officers and analysts who plan and direct clinical and research portfolios.
Applicants must possess an MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree.
Applicants should have a proven track record of managing significant research programs.
Applicants should have demonstrated senior-level research experience and knowledge of vision research in one or more scientific areas related to blinding eye diseases, visual disorders, mechanisms of visual function, preservation of sight, or vision rehabilitation.
The candidate should have demonstrated administrative leadership experience managing a complex research program or organization.
Applicants should have experience in mentoring and training, budget and resource allocation, and administrative and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate for this position will be appointedat a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and full Federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement and savings plan (401K equivalent) will be provided.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
