N Position Type Management JOB SUMMARY The Financial Contract Compliance (FCC) department works with various stakeholders (corporate departments, continent leadership and regional teams, Legal) to ensure financial contractual responsibilities are executed and financial results are recorded in compliance with US GAAP.
The organization supports corporate processes in partnership with the continent organizations worldwide across all brands, as well as the respective Finance Business Partners, Global Finance Centers of Expertise, and Accenture Hospitality Services (AHS).
The Director Revenue Reporting will lead a team which is responsible for the accurate and timely recording, reporting, forecasting and analysis of MIs revenues Fees (ex.
base management fees, incentive management fees, franchise fees, royalty fees) and Funds (Program Services Fund and Sales & Marketing Funds), including fee calculations, reporting and analysis.
This position will oversee activities to properly classify and recognize revenues in compliance with ASC606 Revenue Recognition standards and MI accounting policies including centralized oversight and delivery of SOX controls.
This position will participate in all aspects of management and franchise contract compliance pertaining to revenues, including documentation and discussions with the Finance Business Partners, Continent Finance, AHS, Accounting Policy, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal, and other Global Finance departments.
The Director will lead with a focus on process improvement, leverage of technology, and seek best practices to drive standardization and consistency.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
Lead all management fee and funds actuals and planning cycle reporting and analysis requirements.
Coordinate with FCC teams to explain changes in actuals and all planning cycles as they relate to consolidated revenue reporting.
Manage interaction with key stakeholders to understand, research, and resolve issues surrounding complexity of management incentive fee contract calculations, including fee interactions, marginal tiers, complex deferred fees, and application of US GAAP accounting
Lead all franchise fee and fund activities for actuals, reporting and analysis requirements.
This includes a large volume.
Fee types include:
royalties (rate x basis) coupled with application and relicensing fees.

Lead all fee planning processes to ensure forecasts and budgets reflect contractually compliant estimates, and accurately reflect MIs revenue.

Serve as the point of contact for the Finance Business Partners on issues regarding fee recognition, deferral of management fees, and other related management contract matters.
Partner with Legal on contract interpretation and revenue recognition matters.

Participate in and lead the development and implementation of standard, leverageable processes to ensure accurate and timely recognition of Marriott revenues.

Assist in the revenue recognition processes associated with standard, non-standard, single-entity, multi-entity, and/or multi-currency management agreements.
Ensure appropriate controls are in place to ensure compliance with contract terms and US GAAP.

Collaborate with the FCC teams to implement new processes for non-standard and corporate level deal requirements.
Coordinate among the various FCC teams to ensure MI is compliant with the contracts.
Complete all required reporting for above-property provisions.

Mentor and develop direct and indirect reports in all aspects of the management & franchise contracts and processes, including compliance and MI Revenue Recognition Policy matters.

Serve as a lead point of contact for all audit related requests and questions.

external, entity and fund audits)
Participate in and lead fee related special projects including revenue recognition policy, operationalizing unique contract provisions, planning cycles, new brands and related integration of processes.

Work with FCC teams to ensure the successful execution of company initiatives and the creation of new processes or the impact to current processes as they relate to Marriotts fee revenue.

Partner with AHS to maintain effective processes and partnerships, with an end-to-end process focus.

Partner with other departments (i.
e.
, Continents, FBP, Legal, APG, Tax, CSA, and FR&A) to provide expertise and insight around contract provisions.

Participate in and support Global Finance initiatives, including the implementation of an automated contract engine.

Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
CANDIDATE PROFILE Experience
Minimum of 8 years finance / accounting experience
Exposure to Management contracts and / or legal agreements
Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems Knowledge & Skills
Strong financial acumen with proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues and to initiate, design, implement and document required business processes.

Strong technical accounting skills; understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and related controls.

Understanding of Marriotts management contracts and business models.

Experience in interpreting complex contract provisions, evaluate MIs risks, and coordinate compliance and handling of complex financial issues.

Well-organized with strong organizational and managerial skills to be able to manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing business demands, and follow through on commitments.

Proficient in spreadsheet and other business software applications.

Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.

Strong people management skills; ability to motivate others to perform at peak levels; ability to enhance the organizations capabilities through effective management of resources and skills.

High degree of initiative; highly motivated self-starter.

Education and Professional Certification
Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
