As a Research Audiologist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, you will:
Perform comprehensive audiologic examinations, specialized diagnostic evaluations, auditory tests, vestibular evaluations, auditory evoked potentials, tinnitus tests, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), and/or auditory prosthetic evaluations.
Develop and/or evaluate quantitative auditory models and/or signal processing algorithms (e.g., noise reduction, speech recognition, speech enhancement, etc).
Design, execute and/or document research studies in hearing and/or speech science.
Publish research studies and/or makes contributions which resolve fundamental issues in audiology, open new areas for further consideration, and/or contribute to important changes in the study of impaired auditory/speech production processes.
Write and/or execute formal agreements, research grant proposals, and/or grant applications.

Degree: Successful completion of at least a master''s degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice.
Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: performing examination, evaluations, and tests such as comprehensive audiologic examinations, specialized diagnostics evaluations, auditory tests, vestibular evaluations, auditory evoked potentials, tinnitus tests, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), or auditory prosthetic evaluations; and design, execute, and/or document research studies in hearing and/or speech science.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
License/Certification: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted audiology license, registration, or certification from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
